Moose Jaw Photographer – The blessing of new life – Zuri

Zuri… was a gorgeous name, don’t you think?  Mom and Dad tell me it means “beautiful” in Swahili… and that she truly is… beautiful. I love the fact that they chose an African name… it will help her to never forget her heritage as dad is all the way from South Africa.  We are lucky that he is here gracing Canada with his talents and his wife is pretty lucky too!  Dalise and I have something in common… we both are blessed to have married South African men. They make good babies!  Smart ones too… Zuri gave me a run for my money, she was so alert for the majority of our session even though she was only 6 days old.  I think her curiousity toward the world is a sign of great intelligence. 🙂

Shame… mom facebooked me on the morning of our shoot to give me a heads up that she didn’t know if Zuri would cooperate for those sleepy shots that Brown-Eyed Girl Photography is known for.  Well… I think she slept for maybe 20 minutes out of our 2.5 hours… but definitely not when mom could be sensed anywhere near.  She knows her mom… that is for certain.  Thankfully I was able to catch at least one sleepy smile. Smiles are my favorites.

A blessing for Zuri… from the last chapter of Proverbs… may she become like the woman of noble character that is spoken of in this chapter…

Strength and dignity are her clothing,

she smiles at the future,

She opens her mouth in wisdom,

and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue…

Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting,

But a woman who fears the Lord, she  shall be praised.
