Once in a while…in your lifetime…you might have the opportunity to meet a truly inspirational individual. When Krystal’s mom contacted me to ask if I would take her grad photos, I felt truly blessed to be asked to do this. Since Krystal was small, I have had the opportunity to watch her grow and develop into the incredibly beautiful, vibrant young woman you see in these photos. It might be hard to believe, but when I first met Krystal, when she was four years old…she couldn’t yet walk. Born with a condition that affects her legs, Krystal had to work harder than anyone I know to learn to be independently mobile. But she has accomplished so much more than her mom or I ever dreamed or imagined. Krystal is a para-olympic swimmer. She has beauty, grace, power and speed. Krystal, you are truly inspirational! May you go on to encourage others not just to sit back and let life pass them by. There is a little carving on my desk of a rock-climber…this is what it says…
Nothing in the world can take the place of perserverance.
Talent will not;
Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
Genius will not;
Unrewarded genius is almost a proverb
Education will not;
the world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistance and determination alone are omnipotent.
– Calvin Coolidge
Press on, Krystal. Encourage others. You can do anything you set your heart and mind to accomplish. You inspire me.
